For some of you the name Sune Ehlers might not ring a bell, but Mister Duudle might do it for you. He made international fame with fellow artist Jon Burgerman and their Hello Duudle project (order yours check http://www.helloduudle.com/). These founders of the Duudlistic movement have a very nice complementary style.

I came across his website (http://www.duudle.dk) about 2/3 years ago. Somewhere on his website you can find my doodle I sent to him. He must have over a thousand duudles from all over the world so be sure to check it out.

B|L|D|D ::: What’s your background story, could you give us an introduction?

Sune Ehlers :::
- Born i Copenhagen 1973.
- Childhood dominated by hippie behavior by my parents:
Long hair, beat up cars, anti nuclear movement, private leftish schools with study trips to East Berlin (wall still there), workingclass Wales, living in a commune, organic food.
- Doing graffitti stuff which I would never ever have the guts to do today: trains, bridges all that. Fat laces, destroyed recordplayers, hip-hop don’t stop – yes, we actually said that a lot.
- Drawing on absolutely everything.
- The best time of my five years at Design School was when I took leave and got a job as a bike messenger. I once had a laughing dwarf in my bag. Stuff like that inspired me more than burned out teachers who dreamed of retirement.
- Founded Duudle.dk in 2001. A comprehensive mess of litereally hundreds of artists work all piled up with my own doodles.

Sune Ehlers ::: I am colorblind, so whatever I say will almost surely differ from what you see – unless you’re equipped with same exotic handicap as me. I do like ginger though.

B|L|D|D ::: Now a biggie “What is art”/”What is fashion” to/for you?
Sune Ehlers :::Art is such a wonderful word. People get so worked up arguing if this or that is art. Great, if you ask me. Art is what appeals to you. Telling someone that he is getting the art wrong or that he doesn’t understand it or even worse that what he likes isn’t art – well it’s just rubbish. But I like the fact that it makes people discuss – it just shows the universal appeal.
Art is individual – Thank God for that. The unique quality about art is just what gets is going – makes it evolve.
Art is great food, hearing your kid say stuff for the first time, the tickling sensation of warm summer rain, music.

Sune Ehlers :::
- Working on some characters for an ad-company that need some… well character.
- Writing on my third book with the amazingly brilliant super doodler, Jon Burgerman.
- Ginger cookies are great. But it’s been a while since I made some. This is one of my key goals for 2007.
